At High Cotton Wine & Spirits, we love whiskey. Our shelves are always stocked with a variety of whiskey selections —from major labels to small batches, single malt scotches to triple-distilled Irish whiskeys, quality budget options to high-end rare finds—so that you are ready for any occasion. And our knowledgeable team can also teach you about the story behind each brand: from the history and tradition to the distilling process used and how that affects the whiskey’s flavor.
We also have a robust whiskey barrel program that regularly features whiskey selections handpicked by us right at the distillery. If there is a specific whiskey brand or flavor you are looking for, swing by the store or give us a call and we can help you find it on our shelves. If you are interested in trying something new, we can also provide a tasting of some of our whiskey options.
What’s the difference?
Whiskey
Whiskey is a broad category of spirits. Bourbon and scotch both fall in this category. All bourbons and scotches are whiskey; not all whiskey is bourbon or scotch.
Bourbon
To be called bourbon, a whiskey must be produced in the United States. It must also use a mash that contains at least 51% corn and must age for at least two years.
Scotch
To start, all scotch is produced in Scotland. It must also be distilled from a mash of malted barley and other cereal grains, and it must be matured in oak casks for at least three years.
