Aaron’s Summer Picks

Whenever it hits summertime, I start looking for the perfect drink. I want something refreshing, chillable and casual—a nice summer crusher.

There are a handful of wines that, for me, tick all of those boxes. Not only are they all excellent summertime options, but except for one, they’re all $25 and under at High Cotton.

White wine and rosé are king in the summer for good reason, but I also suggest you try one of the reds below. They’re ideal for chilling, further accentuated when they’re cool.

WHITES

White wines

Frenzy Sauvignon Blanc

Here’s a great New Zealand wine, acidic and dry with notes of citrus and tropical fruits.

Avinyó Petillant Blanc (Vi d'Agulla)

A sparkling Spanish wine, this one is fruity and divine.

Corte Mainente Bianco Secco Veronese

This well-loved Italian wine is crisp and refreshing, just what you want on a hot summer day.

My Pretty Pinot White

This one, which comes from a small producer in California, promises a tropical and balanced flavor.

ROSÉ

Muxagat Douro Rosé

A truly rich and fruity Portuguese wine, this is a favorite.

G.D. Vajra Rosabella

This Italian rosé is zippy and well-balanced with notes of strawberries.

Bottles of red wine

RED

Crazy Javali Red

Delightfully fruity, this bright wine is perfect slightly chilled.

Railsback Frères Colony House Carignan

If you’re looking to splurge a little, this light-bodied wine is $45, and with its mix of juiciness and salinity, it’s more than worth it. (To learn about how a rock band and wine-maker collaborated to make this wine, watch one of our newest Pour Me a Drink videos.)
